Champions League draw countdown part 3

18 days to go

In the run up to the UEFA Champions League group stage draw on August 27 in Monaco, we will preview one of United's possible opponents each day.

Standard Liege

After winning the Belgian League for the last two seasons – and ten times in their 109-year history, Liege will be open to turn it up a notch and impress on the European stage.

Some of you may remember how close they came to knocking Liverpool out of the Champions League qualifying round.

They battered the Scouse lot in the first leg only to go on to lose 1-0 on aggregate after extra time at Anfield in the return match.

They play at the 30,030 capacity Stade Maurice Dufrasne Liege stadium, which is pretty atmospheric and similar to a typical English ground.
