The reds through to the quarter final of the Carling Cup after securing a comfortable 2-0 win against Barnsley at Oakwell.
Goals from Danny Welbeck and Michael Owen wrapped up a victory that was never in doubt. Gary Neville picked up a straight red card in the second half for a challenge on Adam Hammill.
The draw for the next round will take place live on Sky Sports 1 at just after noon on Saturday.
