Reds to benefit from new Manchester Airport routes

From next spring, reds will be able to travel from Manchester Airport on Jet2 to four new destinations – Split and Dubrovnik in Croatia, Reus in Spain and Prague in the Czech Republic.

The airline will launch the routes between April 1 and May 25, taking the total number of routes it offers from Manchester to 28.

The immediate benefit to United fans is that, should Fergie's men face Barcelona in future UEFA Champions League games, they will be able to get to Barcelona via Reus on Jet 2.

Thompson Flights is the only airline that offers this route at the moment.

As for the other routes, the local team to Split, HNK Hajduk are playing in the Europa League. They're more or less a Fulham of Croatia, so it's unlikely the reds will be travelling there any time soon.

The chances of United playing in Dubrovnik are even slimmer as their local team, NK GOSK Dubrovnik play in the Croatian equivalent of League One.

Traditionally, the best two teams in the Czech Republic both hail from Prague – Slavia and Sparta.
This season, Slavia were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round.

But there's a realistic chance of Slavia or Sparta reaching the group stages in future, so this new Jet2 route could come in handy if it happens.
