An impressive crowd of 7,480 - 761 of those away fans - saw United reserves maintain their unbeaten pre-season campaign with a 2-1 win against Conference new boys Luton.
The reds got off to a dream start, scoring in the very first minute of the game with an impressive seven-pass move culminating in a six-yard tap in from 20-year-old striker Fabian Brandy.
Things got even better for the young visitors on nine minutes when midfielder Tom Cleverley added their second from the penalty spot after Brandy went down in the box.
With six new faces on show, Luton were desperate to impress and grabbed one back on the 15-minute mark when Asa Hall capitalised on a goalmouth mix up to toe poke in from close range.
There were no further goals and reds showed how they could hold on to a slender lead three days after proving they can close one.
Starting United team: Ziler, Simpson, Gill, Chester, Le Leat, Gray, Eikrem, Hewson, Brandy, Cleverley and Dudgeon.
Subs: Moffatt, Heaton, Stewart, Ajose, Wooten and Brown.
